ABOUT US
Ms. Jibarito who is from Humboldt Park, the northwest side of Chicago, is of a mixed breed "Black and Puerto Rican". Though having the best of two worlds she's not very fluent in spanish speaking, but can understand the language more than she can speak it and she can definitely throw down in the kitchen like a true Boricua woman. Ms. Jibarito grew up in diverse and multi-cultural neighborhoods. She attended and graduated from "Roberto Clemente High School" on the northwest side of Chicago off Division and Western Ave. She never attended any Colleges.
Fast forward through life she moved to Atlanta, GA from Chicago in 2009, realizing there were no Puerto Rican restaurants in Atlanta, Georgia like back home in Chicago, where she was able to pull up on any corner in any neighborhood to grab some delicious Puerto Rican food, especially when she didn't feel like cooking. She wanted to bring that authentic Puerto Rican culture and flavor of food to the south like back home with making her Puerto Rican food dishes and her version of the "Original Jibarito" sandwiches that was created by her long time friend "Juan Peter Figueroa" whom she's known since she was 9 years old. Juan Peter, a Puerto Rican man from the Humboldt Park neighborhood as well, who once owned "Borinquen" a famous and popular Puerto Rican restaurant in Humboldt Park near California and Wabansia, is actually the man that invented the Famous "Jibarito" sandwich back in the early 90's and everyone since then around the world has been making their 'COPYCAT" versions of the Jibarito "Plantain" Sandwiches.
Ms. Jibarito started her Authentic Puerto Rican food business in February, 2019 and started selling on Uber Eats and Doordash.
Soon she started customizing and making kitchen essentials products such as... glass cutting boards, oven mitts, potholders, coffee mugs etc. then branched off into making and selling her "Ms. Jibarito" brand marinades and seasonings like Sofrito, Sazon, Adobo and All Purpose Seasonings all made with no msg. She's looking forward to expanding her small business and investing in a Food Truck as well as Take-Out, Food To Go restuarant in the near future.
